Before you hire

  • Look the builder up on the HCRA Ontario Builder Directory. Anyone who builds a new home for you in Ontario must hold an HCRA licence, and the directory shows their licence status and history.
  • Ask for at least three recent completed homes you can drive past, and talk to those owners.
  • Ask for proof of liability insurance and a WSIB clearance certificate.
  • Get the scope, allowances, payment schedule and holdback in a written contract before any deposit.
  • Know your all-in budget first. The custom home cost calculator gives you a starting number.

Is this your company?

Any builder can list its company here for free. A free listing shows your phone number and your website address. We review every change before it goes live.

Want a clickable link to your website and the Vetted badge? A vetted listing costs $499 a year plus HST. You pay, fill in a short form and confirm that you hold a current HCRA licence and insurance. We research your company to make sure it fits this directory. If it does not, we refund you in full. List, update or upgrade your company.

About this directory

Who runs this directory: BuildersOntario.com is operated by ICFhome, a custom home builder in Simcoe County and South Georgian Bay. Builders are listed free when they meet our published standard. Payment never decides who is listed. Vetted listings are a paid upgrade, accepted only after we research the company, and are always labelled. How we choose builders.
