What a Kitchen or Bathroom Should Cost in Ontario, From Someone Who Does Not Sell Them

Installed prices, honest comparisons, free calculators and a second opinion before you sign. No ads, no pop-ups, no email address to see a number.

Every showroom in Ontario will tell you what a kitchen costs. Every one of them is paid on what you spend. This section exists so you walk in already knowing the number, the box, the questions, and the deposit you should not pay.

Pick where you are

Just thinking about it

You want a number before you talk to anyone. Run the cabinet cost calculator, then read the cost guide so you know what the number is made of.

Comparing IKEA to a shop

The same kitchen priced five ways, with the install and the fillers nobody mentions in the store. IKEA vs. custom cabinets.

Quotes in hand, confused

Put them on one grid and compare the last row. The quote comparison guide is free. The quote review is $149 and comes with an answer.

Ready to order

Build the written scope in the calculator, send it to three shops, and if you are in Simcoe County or Georgian Bay, send it to us. Everywhere else in Ontario, we can introduce one vetted shop.

The four subjects

Kitchen countertops

Quartz, granite, quartzite, porcelain and laminate, installed per square foot, with the seams and cutouts priced.

Bathroom vanities

Sizes and heights, floating versus freestanding, the plumbing that gets in the way, and what supplied-and-installed should cost.

Kitchen renovation planning

The whole job beyond the cabinets: order of work, permits, contracts, deposits and the full budget.

The numbers, in one place

Ontario, installed, before HST, checked October 2026. The reference kitchen used across this section is 18 feet of base cabinets, 14 feet of uppers, a 3-foot pantry and a 6-foot island.

How this section makes its money, since you will wonder

Not from ads, and not from shops paying to be recommended. Nobody pays for a mention here. Three things pay for it instead. If your kitchen is in Simcoe County, Muskoka or the Georgian Bay area, we may quote it ourselves, and we say so when we do. If it is elsewhere in Ontario and you ask, we introduce your scope to one vetted shop in your region, never a list of five, and the shop pays us for that introduction, not you. And the quote and layout reviews are paid work, done by a builder with no cabinets to sell you.

The guides and calculators are free and stay free. The price tables carry the date they were checked, and get rechecked every year. If a number on these pages is wrong, say so and it gets fixed, with credit.

How the pages are written

Every guide follows the same shape: the price, what it is made of, where people get it wrong, and what to ask. Every calculator ends in a written scope you can hand to three shops. Nothing here needs an email address, and nothing here is written by someone who sells the thing it is about.

Thirty seconds, no email, and you will know what your kitchen should cost before anyone tries to tell you.

Run the cabinet calculator

The whole section in four lines

Know the number before the showroom does. Get three quotes on one written scope. Read the box spec, not the brochure. Keep the deposit small. Everything else on these pages is detail, and the detail is free.
